For the British Medical Association we:

Conducted a full pay and grading review.

This meant introducing our Job Evaluation Methodology (known as JESS) and providing staff with the training they would need for using this excellent and useful system.

We thoroughly researched the marketplace to understand pay structures within the industry and, from this place of deep knowledge, heard the appeal outcomes for individuals whose roles were positioned at an incorrect grade for their skills.

Our work helped the BMA improve staff happiness and morale, by clearly defining job requirements and the expectations made of employees.

For the British Medical Journal we:

Undertook a complete overhaul of their reward structure, helping them regain control of their wage bill without the loss of staff commitment or goodwill.

The original reward structure had been based on recommendations from the Doctors and Dentist Review Body. As employees were neither Doctors nor Dentist, pay had become far removed from actual staff needs.

Starting by conducting several rounds of awareness-raising sessions with employees, we communicated directly and made ourselves available to answer questions.

Listening and encouraging the voices and opinions of staff is a must on a project of such massive upheaval as this, as these are the people who make the organisation what it is and their concerns must be heard.

The openness and willingness to communicate helped the smooth updating of the reward structure as it was made.

We applied JESS, our job evaluation methodology, to all unique roles, before developing a bespoke pay and grading system.

Completing this complex project for BMJ allowed them to return pay to an appropriate place in the market, so saving them money.

For The Religious Society of Friends (Quakers in Britain) we:

Undertook a complete review of their salary and grading structure.

Using JESS (our job evaluation methodology) we could evaluate each unique staff role. This gave the organisation a basis on which to grade staff, where previously there had been no formal job evaluation system in place.

Testing the new system's relevance to the organisation gave us the chance to benchmark the results, before proceeding to the full JESS exercise and transforming the pay structure for the better.

We also spent time reviewing the current benefits package against related organisations within the same sector.

By committing so thoroughly to the process, The Religious Society of Friends were able to better understand and develop a foundation for pay and reward that had never existed before for their staff.

Undertook a strategic reward and recognition review.

This meant running focus groups with staff across all job roles and undertaking detailed audits of the current practices within the business itself.
